Making the Most of your Mind

Just as the fuel we put into an automobile engine effects how it operates, so too the images we stuff into our minds affect how we think. To make the most of our minds, we need to feed our minds healthy thoughts and images, just as we feed healthy food to our bodies. What we put in our heads impacts what we think and feel. The messages we speak to ourselves can be negative or positive the process works both ways. If we learn to make positive, life-affirmng statements to ourselves we'll begin to believe them instead of negative statements. Our thoughts and emotions feed on what we put into our minds. So be positive! focus on strengths, tell yourself uplifting truths, expose your mind to good, positive, hope filled ideas and stories. Imagine yourself overcoming your greatest fears and becoming the best you can be.

Five Tips for Finding Flattering Clothes

(1) Know your body type and pick clothes to accentuate your strengths. (2)Know what colors best suit your skin tone, eye color and hair color.(3) Shop for a good fit. Even the most expensive garment will make you look bad if it doesn't fit right. (4) Make your choice based on fit, not the numbered size printed on the label. Sizing varies from maker to maker and brand to brand. A size 9 junior is one brand may be the equivalent of a size 13 junior in another. (5) Buy a few quality, well-fitting clothings pieces .

The point is that in order to look our best and feel our best, we need to wear clothes that fit properly. Above all, choose clothing that moves comfortably with you. When you squat down, bend over, or cross your arms in front of you, your clothing should still feel good on. It shouldn't feel tight or uncomfortable. Some people mistakenly think tight clothes look sexy; the truth is tight clothes make you look fat.

Confidence can go a Long Way!

Do you ever think of yourself as someone who could make a difference? Most people don't. Yet the people who often make the greatest difference in this world are ordinary, individuals doing extraordinary things. How's your self-confidence level? When you think about yourself, what do you think? Do you tend to put yourself down, or can you honestly assess what you can do and embrace it as part of who you are? Here it is again! The confidence thing, Yes, clothing can make a statement about how confident we feel and clothing, when we use it correctly, can make us feel more confident. It's like a circle that feeds on itself: we dress well-we feel better -we feel more confident-we make better clothing choices that reflect our confidence-so we dress well, and the cycle begins again. If clothing can make such a powerful difference in our outlook, why is it that so few of us give much thought to our clothing choices? We think about whether or not we look fat, or whether or not a style flatters our figures and we think about cost, we also think a lot about what's in style right now. But do we really think about our clothing any further than that? Not usually, simply because we don't know how.

Personality and Clothing

The clothing best suited to us will reflect not only our tastes and style senses but will also reflect our "inner self" attitudes, values, feelings about grooming or self-care, energy level, individual traits, passions, and uniqueness. Clothing reveals our personalities There are four basis human personality types. (1) Popular (extroverted, optimistic, likes to talk) (2) Perfect (introverted, pessimistic, likes to think) (3) Powerful (extroverted, optimistic, likes to get things done)
(4) Peaceful (introverted, pessimistic, likes to watch) Think for a moment - How do you dress when you feel tired, down or frumpy? Most likely your clothing will also be frumpy. What do you tend to wear when you felt smart, attractive, or sassy? What you choose to put on will probable match your mood. It may even reflect your confidence.

Clothing can be a powerful tool

Clothing can be a powerful tool in our confidence building tool box. It can help us make the most of the bodies we have, no matter our size, shape, color, or even personality. Ultimately, however, to make the most of our bodies (strengths and weaknesses alike) we can't just address the externals of makeup, hair, clothing and accessories. Making the most of ourselves means becoming the best we can be from the inside out.

Beauty Through the Ages

Ninetheenth-century actress and opera singer Lillian Russell weighed 200 lbs and was considered the "ideal" woman in the 1890s. In the 1950's Marilyn Monroe @ 5ft 1/2 in tall & weighing 140 lbs was the standard of centerfold beauty. Just a decade after Marilyn Monroe's size 14 beauty captured America, British teenager Lesley Hornby(Twiggy) became the world's 1st international supermodel and the "Twiggy" look of anorexic thinness was in. The workout craze of the 1980's brought images of fitness as the next American beauty trend.

Interesting survey:

A survey found that seven out of ten girls said they wanted to look like a television character. Nearly one-third said that they had changed their appearance to become more like the TV character. Sixteen percent (nearly one in five) said that they had dieted or exercised to look more like a TV character.
